Dear Rebecca,
We just returned from our trip to Cancun and I wanted to tell you that we had a great time and everything was just as
advertised, and better. We had our own car waiting for us at the airport that took us to the fast Cat Ferry from the Avalon
Reef and it was like we had our own private transportations to the resort. The accomodations were great, and we had enough drinks
and good food to last us a long time. We took advantage of the free bikes and rode down to the other end of the Island. We took the
promo, although there was no pressure to do so, and although we did not take advantage of the offer they had for vacations, we got 2
free tickets to the Tulum Mayan ruins and a large water park. Since it was to leave at 7 AM from the mainland, we transferred to the
Avalon Grand the night before. It was full, but the people at the Avalon Reef got us a room lined up anyway. We took advantage of a free
7 AM - 7 PM trip that was excellent - the water park would have cost $30 each to get in if we were not on the voucher. Splitting up the
trip between the Island and the mailand was an excellent idea you gave us since we then could see Senor Frog's and some idea of cancun
itself.The flaming Mayan Coffee and Flambe bananas were a special treat. So I want to thank you for setting this all up and easing my
mind about whether it was really true or not. I have many people here in Geneva who are very interested in how this has turned out and
are already asking about whether something like this would be available for them next year. You are welcome to use me as a reference or
any of the statements above for your promotions if needed to combat any negative web materials that might be out there.

Just a quick thank you for the trip you arranged for our family as well as for the McGreevys’ and the Diemers’.

Your suggestion of the Avalon Reef was great!!

In addition to its great views and food, the hotel is wonderfully situated to corral kids. I mean its on its own little island with only one way in and out via a bridge and any other access is by boat.

Secluded away from the busy Cancun strip just off the northern tip of Isla Mojeres we had access to all the Caribbean activities one could imagine, and then some. Transfers to and from the airport were smooth, no problems.

We snorkeled in the reef of Garrafon, used paddle boats, kayaks, and bikes, ate great fish barbeque at Tibarron, swam with dolphins, rays and sharks at Dolphin Discovery, and even took the kids 12 yrs+ on their first scuba-dive.

We rang in the new year Mexican style too.

Thank you for arranging an affordable vacation, the likes of which we would not have found and organized on our own.

I just wanted to thank you sincererly for recommending the Avalon Reef for our group of 6 adults and 7 boys (ages 7-13). We had a ball! We were a bit skeptical at first after missing the first ferry and having to wait for almost 3 hours for the next one, but once on the island we were very happy.

Isla Mujeres is a wonderful little island full of activities that we took part in. We snorkeled at Garrafon and even saw a 4 foot Barracuda. My husband loved hanging out and reading on the hammocks there. We rented both mopeds and golf carts to tour the island. The kids loved doing that! We swam with the dolphins and of course had to buy the video and photos. The highlight for the boys was scuba diving. They went on a 35 foot dive!

The hotel is located perfectly to the market area. It's a very safe and festive area full of shops and local restaurants. You get the feel of the people, the language, the culture right there while bargaining for items and exchanging understandings about pesos and dollars.

If I had it to do over again, I would have ventured across the bridge earlier and gotten to know the lay of the land earlier. There is a great beach bar area over the bridge to the right that we didn't discover until the day before we left. We used the scuba dive company that is across the bridge and at the first left heading into town. They were terrific with the boys, stressing safety first.

The water was as you stated, beautiful and much calmer than the waters at Cancun. We totally enjoyed the water inlet as well as the activities offered on property (snorkeling equipment, kayaks, big water bicycle, paddle boats). Both Mike and I enjoyed great massages at the spa! King's Bath on the property was great for the kids and adults alike. This is the natural water hole where you can snorkel in a confined area.

The food was very good as was the service. Jose' became a quick favorite of ours in the restaurant and bar. Tipping for good service early on proved to be the best for all of us. We were treated wonderfully by Jose, Victor and others.

The rooms were nice and basic and fine for us. Any nicer and the kids would have spent more time in the room and we didn't want that. It was great and necessary to have 2 rooms - one for Mike & I and another for the boys, thus 2 bathrooms also. We were fortunate to have connecting rooms. This was not the case for the Diemer's and Leighton's. The Diemers were next door to each other without connecting rooms, while the Leightons were 6 doors away. I felt this was an issue for them as they have 3 boys, one being only seven. It's too bad this didn't get resolved throughout the vacation as the first 1-2 nights were stressful for them I think.

The kids will remember the trip as a laid back relaxing experience where they were able to eat and drink when they wanted to, hang out at the beach OR at the ping pong tables.... add this relaxation to a daily "adventure" as noted above and WOW, what great memories for any kid!

All in all, I never quite felt like I was in Cancun as all I did was drive through there, but this was not a problem. I loved the island and the quaintness of it all. I wasn't willing to pass up a full day of the island to venture into the hotel zone and the craziness there. I do look forward to going back to Cancun to enjoy the adult nitelife and hotel zone activities sometime in the future and of course, I will contact you for your help and recommendations.
